This Is Your Rest
Matthew 11:28-30 New King James Version
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Isaiah 55:8-9 Amplified Version
My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Turn to Jesus, take His yoke upon yourself, submit your heart to His, and in turn receive His rest. Rest doesn’t come from just praying. Rest doesn’t come from toiling and mustering up everything you’ve got, to work things out. Rest comes from taking our heavy laden heart to His throne of grace; in submission to His way of going about our life and the struggles we are facing. We can pray and tell him our needs which is very important, however, it is just as important to open our heart up to Him so that He can guide us to His kind of rest and His kind of peace. This world cannot give you peace.
There may be things in your life that make you happy or make you feel content; but that isn’t true peace. Everything that seems to hold peace here in this world is temporary. The peace that Jesus gives is not dependent on anything you can do, it’s fully dependent on who He is. If you have Jesus in your heart, You have access to His presence at all times and to His living waters that are able to replenish wherever you are running dry. If your heart has been running and failing to find comfort, His peace is available to you. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the peace you have in Jesus. Close your eyes and meditate on the truths He has given you. Submit your mind to His way and follow what He tells you in His word. Part of receiving what He has given you is to walk in belief of what His word says to you, personally.
The Rest that God wants to give you beckons you to make Him Lord over you, allowing Him to take care of your heart completely. You can relinquish your burdens to Him. Explain every detail, knowing He cares about each and every one. Express the needs of your heart to Him. Share your weariness with Him and invite Him into the rugged places. Expect His strength and refreshment. Know that He is the strength of your heart and sense the living waters running towards you.
May you willingly surrender your struggles to Him. May you receive the refreshing your soul needs as you submit to Him and may it be a joy to take His yoke upon you and lay down the substitutes and distractions. Nothing can fill you the way He can. The safest place for you is in His hands, yielded to His guidance, surrendered to His way, led by His voice. This is your rest. His hands hold you in a way nothing else can; superseding above every weight and set back. He is your rest.
